Accidents & medical emergencies don’t take holidays….there is a need for blood every minute, every day of the year.

Taking time off your busy schedule to participate in the blood donation drive will make a huge difference. Your few minutes….would be a lifetime for someone.

An excited bunch of 23 kids & 6 volunteers met up at 8.30am at the balwadi to board the bus. After an antakshari session & biscuit- frooti snack we reached the water park at 9.45am. There was a long queue to get in as it turned out to be the day for some other school picnics.

The kids had loads of  fun in the water and on the slides. Crazy river, Lazy river, Wave pool,  Dhadkan slide, Labak Zapak Matak slide were some of the favorites.

The day was full of fun, thrills & laughter as the kids raced around the place. Lunchtime was the only break, the  kids were treated to chole batura, samosa, fried rice & noodles..

At 5.30pm it was time to pack up…..the end of our adventurous day …. with the kids all wanting to stay longer.  Kids were served a light snack on the return journey & all of them dozed off, exhausted from the long day.

A big thanks to all who helped organize ….It was a great day, enjoyed by all …. a wonderful feeling to see the smiles on the kids faces!!

Discover Urjaa has started an English speaking class for the kids  sponsored through Project CARES. We plan to have 25 classes spread over 6 months (every Sunday).

Our first class was held on Sunday / 18th July’10. The rainy day did not dispel the enthusiasm of the 41 kids who attended the class. It started with a session conducted by Vignesh on basic greetings. The kids were guided on how to introduce themselves, followed by a small session on expressing feelings, later they were divided into groups – each group chose a topic & wrote sentences which they then presented to the class.

At present the class has been introduced for kids from Std 6 onwards. While the kids are being sponsored by us, they face a disadvantage of English language skills. We hope to give them a space to grow & become better. The class is designed to -

 - help the kids become confident & be able to speak English more fluently

- aid them to communicate more effectively in a relaxed, friendly & encouraging environment

This batch had 31 kids belonging to the 14-16 age group, present at the seminar held at Kamino Mumbai premises.

A few highlights of the day ~

~ The kids surprised us with the symbols they chose to represent themselves & the way they related to it in the ‘symbolizing oneself’ exercise.

~ Special individual attention was given to each child as they were guided through the ‘communication skills’ exercise. They were soon playing ‘facilitator’ and started pointing out the nuances of body language/tone/words to the other kids with glee, after their initial self consciousness !!

~ ‘Attitude comes from within’ was stressed on, through another exercise conducted to differentiate between skill & attitude.

~ Individual & team games were conducted to aid learning and for fun.

The enthusiasm of the kids set the tone for the day and it was a wonderful experience for all of us.

Held at Kamino Mumbai office for the kids sponsored by Project CARES in the 12-13 years age group.

The session was conducted by Vignesh and emphasis was given to communication skills, attitude & teamwork with the aid of various activities & games.

The whole hearted involvement of the kids & their high energy set the tone for the day. The kids are eagerly awaiting the next workshop!!

At Kamino International, our blood donation drives reflect our commitment to corporate social responsiblity which we believe is one of our core priorities.

We are proud to have 51 people participate in the blood donation drive organized at Kamino Mumbai office on 10th July 2009 conducted by Hinduja Hospital. There was a total of 45 donors.

Kudos to our Mumbai staff for their initiative, enthusiastic participation and support in aiding and creating awareness for this noble cause.
